Spanish Steps
June 29, 2026

138 travertine steps climbing from Piazza di Spagna up to the Trinità dei Monti church. Built in the 1720s, still one of Rome's favorite meeting points.
Visit notes (June 29)
- You cannot sit on the steps (city law since 2019) — a polite whistle from a carabiniere will move you along
- Climb to the church at the top for the view down Via dei Condotti
- The Barcaccia boat-shaped fountain at the base is by Pietro Bernini (Gian Lorenzo's father)
- Best time: morning, before the shopping street crowds arrive
